Snow Day

My kids go to school in the Bronx and all of the bus companies they use come from Westchester so we often have a snow day when none of the Manhattan schools do. Today is one of those days. I was up at about 5:30 because of my never ending attempt to night wean my 3 year old (we had a set back 2 nights ago). As expected at about 6:15 we got the email that said that my kids had no school.

One of my least favorite things to do each day is wake my kids up for school. (I'm sure that I am not alone in this) There's usually a fair amount of whining and crying, a generally negative attitude and a chorus of "5 more minutes" that goes on and on and on.

Imagine my surprise this morning when my girls popped out of bed at 7:25 with big smiles on their faces and even more unbelievably my almost 13 year old son was out of bed by 8:15. I know I was not alone this morning because before 8:00 AM R had 2 invitation to IM. One of these invitations was from a friend of hers who has a notoriously difficult time getting out of bed for school.

My kids are now sitting in my living room, almost finished with their second pay per view movie of the day and it's only 11:30. T has just asked me if they can watch a third movie when this one is over and I've just said....Yes! Aren't snow day the best!
